The word vata means to blow or move like the wind.

Consisting of the elements air and ether, it is the principle force of motion in the body and mind.

Vata constitutes vitality and governs all movement processes at a micro-cellular and macroscopic level – from the blinking of your eyelids to the movements of your muscles. This form of energy is also responsible for circulation, respiration and the nervous system. Vata is the king of the doshas.

Vata Diseases

  • Looseness in bones

  • Shrinking or breaking of bones

  • Constipation problem

  • Taste of mouth gets bitter

  • Cold and numbness of organs

  • More dryness in the body

  • Needle stinging pain

  • Sudden pain in the fingers of hands and feet

  • Stiffness in body

Avoid these things if suffering from vata

People suffering from this disease should not consume cold things, below are foods that are astringent, bitteror Pungent. Raw food is also somewhat detrimental for Vata type because it is difficult to digest:

 

  • People suffering from Vata should not eat curd and buttermilk at night.

  • FRUITS: all sour fruits, apples, pears, pomegranates, dried fruit.

  • VEGETABLES: lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, raw onions, lemon etc. 

  • GRAINS: buckwheat, barley, millet, corn. 

  • OILS AND FATS: large quantities of fatty foods and honey, white sugar

Home Remedies for Vata disease

  • Drinking juice of Harsingar, Parijat, Nirgundi and Aloe vera will benefit

  • Drink turmeric powder and dry ginger powder in water

  • Garlic is a pesticide. Eat 1-2 buds daily

  • Drink gourd juice

  • Consuming pears help in getting relieved of all stomach related problems

  • Yogurt can be eaten in the afternoon
